Effect of energy price increases on ancillary costs
Date: 05.01.2023
Energy prices have gone up significantly in recent weeks and this situation unfortunately looks set to continue for some time. This will also affect you as a tenant because the oil and gas you use is paid for through your ancillary costs.
We continuously monitor market developments in order to implement any required measures as soon as they are needed.
As your utility costs are very likely to rise significantly, it is wise to start building up reserves now.
If you would like to increase your advance payments, please let us know via our tenant portal myLivit. If you have already thought about the amount, you are welcome to send us your proposal.
You also have the option of asking your contact person in the property management department for an estimate of the additional amount to be expected.
Please note, however, that the amounts mentioned above and the estimates provided by our employees are not binding, as the further development of energy prices can only be roughly estimated and is difficult to predict.
The additional costs to be expected depend on many factors: the type of heating (oil, gas, heat pump etc.), any existing contracts with suppliers, the further development of energy prices and, of course, your personal consumption.
Therefore, it is not possible to make general statements about the additional costs to be expected.
Electricity: the tariffs of electricity suppliers vary greatly, so it is not possible to make a general forecast
Oil: The price of oil has increased by about 50% in the last year.
Gas: The following graph gives you an indication of the price development of natural gas in the last year:

You pay an instalment each month to cover the ancillary costs. Once a year, the ancillary costs are settled on the basis of consumption and the actual costs. Depending on whether your instalment payments exceed or fall short of this amount, you will receive an invoice or a credit note for the difference.
